How do you remove/replace the boot handle on a 2cv!?
the 'new' boot i put on already had it in but it is as loose as JW's first root! See what I did there ;)

To be honest I can't really remember very well as its been along time since taking one apart but from memory there is a Phillips head screw in the back (inside) which you undo then the lock and everything comes out with some wiggling and using the key to remove lock. Hopefully someone else will come along and explain correctly if  I'm remembering that wrongly!

Not at all! I couldn't get it out.
Sorted now, the handle had been pulled so hard that it and deformed and torn the dome recess it sits in which holds the latch in place, this allowed the latch to flop all over the place.
To fix it the previous owner used a glue to hold the handle in place :?: :?:
A neat recessed washer to put the load onto the back of the bracket is now holding everything secure ;)

I think what usually happens is people drop the boot lid with the latch in the closed position, and that hammers the latch up into the lid. If you can get the latch out you can use a drift through through the hole to knock it back into shape.
