Think this is a good price for what it is? My last welder (crappy aldi job) is dead and gone...

Looks like a re-branded cheap machine, i wouldn't buy it for that money.
My advice would be to buy the best machine you can afford, one that can especially be adjusted to low current.

I know that the welder is good - the cebora, snap-on and BOC models of this are identical and proven, I just have no idea if the PRICE is waaay too much or a total bargain. I want to know if i should snap it up now or wait for a better deal ;)

If this is your maximum budget, it could be a good investment, Cebora isn't usually bad quality (happy with mine) but these small ones look very much like the cheap DIY shop machines, although they could be just Chinese copy's of the Cebora.

Its not my max budget, but it seems like more money = more amps, and i don't really need to be able to weld the Eiffel Tower back together if it falls apart, just patch up my car.

What makes you think this is some kind of Chinese copy? Its an official (albeit discontinued) model :s

They're ok. Vastly better than a similarly priced Machine mart rubbish.

They do seem to be popular machines, there are at least 5 on ebay at the moment. I'd trust either a Cebora or the rebadged Snap-on version to be good quality. Whether it's worth the buy it now price I don't know, the other 4 currently on ebay are all cheaper, although in auctions, and most of the ones in completed listings also sold cheaper.

i now have 2 welders

I have a Sealey 100 amp (i think) Mightymig which is superb, its one of the old ones. I've done a lot with it. I replaced the torch with a nicer new one, and replaced the stupid plastic feed pipe with a metal lined one that doesn't get caught up.

I've also just bought another Sealey welder, but a Supermig 180, which is equally as superb. Has euro torch, and the capability to hold a 15kg roll of wire (that'll last 3 life times!!)

i now use the smaller welder for stainless, which is fine.

I am by no means at all an expert on this, but it appears its better to buy a good old fashioned branded welder, than the cheap Chinese, or even new branded welders.

I got one of these off ebay a little while back - the torch is a bit battered, though. I've been umm-ing and ahh-ing about whether to repair/replace it or do the mod to convert it to the standard eurotorch. Sounds like you'd suggest the latter?
