 Trouble starting the 2CV
It has suddenly become very difficult to start the car on the key, Key goes into the lock and turns but nothing, lights on and everything else ok. Then have found that if you move the key around a little in the lock you can just get it started if you're lucky! Whats gone wrong? and how can it be fixed, is it a whole new ignition lock and barrel?
many thanks
Colin

 Re: Trouble starting the 2CV
Think it'd be the switches in the bottom of the lock - you can take that bit of and have a look at what's gone AWOL....

It's usually less stressful to fit a new contact drum, rather than trying to strip, clean and reassemble one which is worn or has corroded contacts. http://www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk/ignition- ... -1685.html

 Re: Trouble starting the 2CV
You could have a Renault Clio 3 - that lock barrel costs you 240 euros - stick with the 2CV.

 Re: Trouble starting the 2CV
Two bits of wire and three female connectors. No issues.

Attachment: IMG_20130808_171309.jpg Colin, surprised no one has said but a faulty steering lock can be a real pain in the ass. if the actual lock is feeling loose and/or sticky or doesnt Click when you pull the key out, make sure and disable the mechanisim before the lock breaks as its a major faff to get it off once its happened ( and it always happens at the most inconvenient time pic above was last day of the 3 week trip to Spain this year and happened at a petrol stop in France) remove the black tinware dust cover over the bottom of the steering lock casting then with the lock undone turn the steering wheel untill you can get a 5mm allen key into the bolts on the collar via the cast slot once loose itll slip down and you can remove it forever.
