Advice on how to store an engine
I recently bought an engine to rebuild some day. What is the best way to store the engine til I have time and money to rebuild it?

No expert but from personal experience then ... somewhere dry and dust free if possible with fresh oil in the sump and maybe a little 3-1 put down the bores and the engine turned over a couple of rotations by hand to distribute it slightly. If the ports are open then consider covering them with say plastic bags so nothing can ingress whilst stored. Or you could do what i've done, nothing at all and then a careful bit of recomissioning when you come to use them

What's the point of storing the engine at TDC?

Re: Advice on how to store an engine
A smaller proportion of the swept volume is exposed to the atmosphere, so less chance of any corrosion in the barrels. 2Cvcruiser wrote: What's the point of storing the engine at TDC?

Re: Advice on how to store an engine
at TDC there is less likleyhood of condensation affecting the swept part of the cylinder, reducing the volume of air in the cylinder the less chance that any change in temperature will cause condensation.
