Post 2cv 602cc too BMW 1100cc clutch?
Ok guys, I am working on my bmw engine conversion and although I have the resources and ability I lack general 2CV knowledge  I will be using a 2cv flywheel but what is a top quality replacement clutch that might hold out hope and last when combined with this engine on a 2cv6 gearbox?

thanks
Dan

a 2cv clutch.....

I think Pete Sparrow is using a 2cv gearbox and 2cv clutch and flywheel....

Listen when he shifts (in the 2 video's) you can here the clutch sliding (rpm goes hardly down when shifting up 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) )

hi DB78,

you should reed the topic "Joolz red one" on this forum - Joolz has experianced quite some issues regarding the BMW-engine in his 2cv. He is using now a valeo diafragm clutch which can cope with the 90 hp quite well. He knows Pete Sparrow quite well - Pete has build several of these conversions already and could help you - look at "Sparrow Automotive" on the internet.
succes with your project.

Valeo seem to be the best make of standard clutch for a 2cv, although I did have one where the middle came loose(see my thread, about this time last year). But if you can keep the oil off them they seem to be up to the job. Both Pete and my cars' currently have trouble with gear oil coming out around the input shaft and contaminating the clutch, that's the only reason they slip. Fritz mentioned it in his thread too. If you find my 0-70 video on youtube you can see there's no problem when the clutch is dry. What sounds like slipping clutch is all wheelspin, as you can tell by the needle.

I don't going to argue with you Joolz; but believe me I know the diffrence (in sound even in a video) if it is wheelspin or a (abbused) clutch released to soon when the engine is revving to high for it so it needs to fight the rpm down, which it does (at the end) so it works... Driving "normal" it should be good...

Thanks guys, thought I had been misunderstood with first reply of a "2cv clutch" I did mean as in best brand. So valeo seems to work well so I will look for one of those.
The 180 mm could be an interesting route, anymore info regarding that one?

Thanks
Dan
