Post adjusting 2nd butterfly stop
Is there a way of adjusting the 2nd butterfly stop with the engine running ... on the carb fitted at the moment the anti tamper cover is missing and its prone to rev too high when the engine is hot but fine when the engine is not being thrashed

depends on age of carb some had it accessible others its underneath and you end up burning your arm

Kevin,
with the engine warmed up and ticking over, back the adjusting screw for the secondary butterfly right off, blip the throttle a few times to ensure that the secondary butterfly is completely closed, then wind the adjusting screw in slowly until it starts to influence the tickover.
Now back it off until it's not affecting the tickover and you're almost done.

If you find that the secondary butterfly sticks with that setting after an overnight stop, winding the screw inwards half a turn usually sorts that out.

i dribble a bit of petrol down no2 if the revs increase then it needs screwing out a bit - if it sticks after overnight cool down ...as ken said!

Thanks for advice much better though at the moment it's more prone for revs to go too low initially where as before it was too high
