Post Running - Converting 2cv To LPG
Hi Guy's / Gals
I know LPGO runs on LPG / GPL
Have any of you thought about converting to LPG? - especially with fuel prices and congestion charges and the likes.

Yes, I'm quite tempted to try and use a Garretson zero governor to try and do it without having to put a heated vaporiser in. Supposedly they are good for up to 25hp on a static generator so a tad more on a 2cv might just about work assuming the engine bay is reasonably warm in use.

I don't know whether one could get it certified with such components though.

Correction: 25hp on CNG, 40 on LPG.

Still questions about certification though.

there are a few 2cv on LPG in the Netherlands.. My girl has one, with normal vaporizer that is heated from the exhaust (illegal now for new installations).

Jeroen Cats has a page in his site with more info/tips:

Without heating the vaporiser, you will only do 3 miles and then your engine will stop with 1cm thick ice on the vaporiser!!!! So forget it you need a heated vaporiser......

B.t.w been there done that (for about 3 miles)......

I see that on the website above (CATS) - there has been additional copper coils wrapped around the heat exchangers or a stainless pipe through the crossbox (Or Both :) )
I was thnking about the inclusion of a water tank some pipework to the heat exhangers and crossbox and powered to the vaporiser with one of these.

Also available off distributors in the UK and possibly europe

I have read somewhere that this GPL-acadyane from the Citroen factory only had GPL and no gasoline and the mechanical fuelpump on the engine was used as a waterpump to circulate the watercircuit around - creative thinking from these guys !!
