im not sure if im honest, its an 88 e reg, can you sugest where i get one from ?

is it an easy job to fit (im an ameteur!!) but i noticed the other day it had a hole in it, must of been like that for a while, i think its the one the spring sits in as aposed to the oil canasters??

may be wrong of course...

Right, the spring can, the big tube with the springs in, should have a fair bit of oil sloshing about in it, probably vegetable or caster. If the can's got a hole in, the oil will have leaked out, I assume? There are no seperate oil canisters.

ECAS sells replacement spring cans. http://www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk/spring-tu ... -1186.html

£20, Sorted! You'll need a 44mm spanner, a pair of axle stands, a grinder and a welder. Just remember the order everything comes out in, or better still, as you remove a part from one can, fit it into the other, making sure you mark which end is which.

how urgently do i need to buy a new one, and is it an easy job to fit??

well the oil has never leaked out when i owned it.....

it must explain why the suspensions slightly higher on one side (in and half) i thought it was weight of battery or something..... (as the side battery is on is slightly lower)

also how long would it take to do, and is it something an 2cv ameteur like me can acheive... what sort of oil also?

how big is the hole? If it's just a pinhole, you should be OK to just turn the can around so the hole's on the top, and put some oil in it. The can *should* turn relatively easily when the car is jacked up off both wheels on that side.

Obviously that's not a goer if the things full of holes and there's always one on the bottom! ;)
