right so im ready to go and do it, ive read the haynes manual and this post enough times to tell you off by heart, looking at the new suspension, like i mentioned ealier, the outer nuts are solid, wont move, would i get away (trying to save spending money here) with only using one 46 mm spanner, and a pare of mole grips on the other, my mole grips stretch far enough, whatya think?

also going to measure the tie rods tomrow and will post what lengths are to determine which way round it goes!

I thought you'd got 2 spanners? Have you been soaking the stuck bits in penetrating oil/diesel since you first found they were stuck?

Also have you given them a good clean to try and find the "AV" mark?

Post Re: All about: 2CV suspension
ive ordered them, well i have the tool shop is waiting to build up a big enough order so we dont have to pay for postage
erm, i accept the slap on the rist louise, how can i soak them if there stuck? or shall i give them a shot of wd every now and again?
also i thought that the rearest nuts, you can get away with them being siezed and do the front ones up, although no adjustment for the dohnut, or the dohnut on the suspension ;)

adrian yes ive given all threads a good clean with a wire brush, in my dremel, amoun of stuff i had hit me in the eye  never mind, ive greased all the threads, and in preperation i bought new knife edges and r clips just incase, but im goign to use them and fit them anyway and keep the old as spares.. ive got all the old wax oil and shit off them with some white spirit, still no AV mark, just random white writing, im still to get off my backside and find out what it says, lack of spannersof the 46mm variety has sort of not made me get on with it, but none the less, tomrow or tuesday i will get off my but and get on with it. russell mentioned measuring them if i cant find the AV mark, as it has this black coat roudn it (bit of it chipped off) as in a hard black layer (probably paint) but on this is the white writing i speak of, and a yellow dot one end, and yellow and purple!

Hey no slapped wrist from me, just a suggestion... its one of those things I always meant to do leading up to jobs but never managed (lazy). "Plus Gas" is better than WD40.

As for the rest of your Q's I have no idea...

Yes change the knife edges, but check the shackles too they can wear and some have been known to split.

I struggled to find it round here, Halfords don't stock it.

I mean the "tie rod end" the thing that winds on the tie rod and pivots on the knife edge.

Just make sure the hole doesn't have a groove when the knife edge sits. it should be round, mine were tear-drop shaped when I changed them.
