 Putting oil in the gearbox How do I do it, the Haynes manual is not helpful. Should I drain out what is in there first? The Haynes manual does suggest a certain oil to stop noise, deffo need that!

Re: Putting oil in the gearbox look at "gearbox oil" on this thread or you'll start a fight. A multigrade is fine, I use fully synth
drain is under the crownwheel - between the driveshafts underneath.
fill is on the side just above the exhaust. both plugs are 21mm af- sparkplug spanner size
drain and fill rather than just top up - takes just under a litre (90cl)

Re: Putting oil in the gearbox It is important use oil without sulphur or chlorine. Becouse there are some materials used in the gearbox that can damage.
At the duch forum they discover this oil are without the sulphur and chlorine:
Red Line MTL (70W80 GL-4) = synthetisch
Red Line MT-90 (75W90 GL-4) = synthetisch
Quaker State High Performance 80W-90
Quaker State Synquest GL5 75W-90 = syntetisch
Millers EP 80 GL 4
Shell Spirax GX (GL-4)
Texaco Multigear MTF 75W/80W (GL-4)
There are more ofcourse

Re: Putting oil in the gearbox The easiest way I fill up is to measure out 90cl in a jar. Jack up the car on the plug side and use long pipe with funnel on the top and fill slowly until all gone. Tighten plug and lower car.

Re: Putting oil in the gearbox I normally buy a litre, chuck 100ml away and thrn its all measurerd in the bottle so you can stick the oil in easy
