Along with the gearbox change I also changed the clutch. I have it OK but just wondered if there are tips or hints on how to adjust it correctly (step by step). It judders a little on setting off. |

Could be the new inner cross joints needing to be bedded in or the outer cross joints (wheel side) are buggered. If it feels like oval wheels when driving off, then it is the drive shaft cross joints. Otherwise aim for 2 cm play at the pedal. Old types need more free play than modern. |

Best way to feel the free play is to kneel down next to the door and use a finger on the pedal - much more obvious than with your foot. |

I was shown to pull down on the cable from inside the engine bay where the adjustment nut is, that gives a clear indication of exactly how much free play there is. Harley |

Harley - the adjuster nut on an old-style box/pedals is at the clutch fork end on the gearbox, not the bulkhead. |

If you have a TRAFFICLUTCH, then you need extra revs when you pull away, especially if you are turning left or right, as its the trafficlutch which is only just biting and causing judder. As Viking says, check your 2cv joints - non originals are rubbish (sorry suppliers, but they are just not up to it). Bob |

Hey 2CViking - do I have a TRAFICLUTCH  I will check the 2cv joints on the hub side - got nice new NOS 2cv joints on the brake side. Just waiting for a new battery to arrive to sort out that fault and then I can get back on the road to try out the clutch. |

No Traffic clutch but Terrific clutch  No your clutch is conventional and not centrifugal.
