Post subject:  Chassis Questions

Hi guys, I need a chassis so I can start welding my shell back together.

Can I build a jig/chassis or should I save up and buy a new chassis?

As you can see, the front of the chassis collapsed, and so did the toeboard.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

I'd have to save up for a while!

Are there any rebuilds you've seen where a custom chassis has been made from box section?

personally i'd wait and keep looking on eBay for a (possibly second hand) galvo chassis. They aren't that expensive new if you don't mind a cheap chassis.

As long as you have a decent or at least straight original chassis to take measurments from and a perfectly flat surface to build it on I'd make one. I've always wanted to.

where are you Dez?

ive a wheels chassis sitting getting in the way - could bring it down to cambridgeshire for Reg day or drop it off anywhere en route from Edinburgh.( once cash settlement has been agreed;))

that link you posted to about building a box chassis ...erm theres quite a lot to a chassis and that flat top one creates as many problems as it solves

I think that's one of those "If you have to ask, the answer should probably be no" questions.

There's several posters here build chassis. EXTREMELY good chassis. If pennies are short, you can buy a cheap shite chassis, and repent at leisure.

I'd imagine there's a good few quid's worth of steel in a good solid chassis.

I'm in Belfast, in Northern Ireland!

Realistically, i'm only wanting something straight enough to put my body (or what's left of it) on top so I can start repairing it!
