Post subject:  Main Jet Confusion!

Hi. My '86 D*lly has just had a new carb fitted (twin choke type) and is gutless. No problem I thought - just change main jet up to 107. Did this on my last 2CV and worked a treat. So carb top off, main jet cover screw removed and.... can't unscrew main jet! Have these things been made tamper-proof or have some strange head that needs a special tool? am a bit perplexed or maybe just being a bit stupid?! Tried to take a picture but naturally doesn't come out very clear. Any advice??
thanks
Paul

Does it even have a jet in it?

i wondered that so dropped the new 107 jet into the hole but no joy - def something in there! it's a 24/21 carb (new) which i think may be a bit different to my last one...??

Paul?
the jets used in the 21-24 version of the 26/35 carburettor are not the same as those used in the later 18-26 version.
When you manage to unscrew the primary petrol jet, you'll most probably find that it's a 120, which should be replaced with a 125 for 'normal' induction, 127 5 for engines with the Dyane/Ami 'blower'.

thanks Ken
this carb doesn't have access to the primary jet like your picture - you have to come in from the top. Anyway, the problem appears to be that there is no slotted (or otherwise) head to unscrew the jet. I've unscrewed the brass screw but underneath this there is no slot head...

That seems very odd - can you post a picture?

I think what you've got there is an old carb. What you're thinking of as the jet cover screw is actually the jet, which is slightly different from those on later carbs. I've got one somewhere, I'll photograph it to show you what I mean.
