Post Corroded fuse terminals
Hi
I've had occasional electrical problems due to the fuse terminals being corroded. The plating has worn off. A scrape with a screwdriver cures the problem for a while.
Looks a simple enough job to replace these.
Checked with Ecas but they are not available except on a new wiring loom. Apparently it's not a common problem.
Does anyone know if they are available anywhere?

I guess this is on a late model 2CV...
If so, have you tried coating the terminals with petroleum jelly/vaseline after cleaning them?
A chainsaw file of similar diameter to the fuse is handy for cleaning the contact surfaces, removing one terminal at a time from the holder for access.

Hi Ken.
I'm giving them all a good scrape now.
The car is 1975 but I suspect the only thing that is that year is the log book.

Changed mine to blade fuse holder, better protection for the elements with the added bonus that blade fuses are easier to find when you need them.

Hi Jonathon,
Thanks for the reply.
A new fusebox is an option that I am considering.
The latest problem appears to have been the connection on the ignition switch.
However I've spent a worthwhile hour or two checking and cleaning connections.
I had search around and see that a German supplier has a similar looking fusebox for the traditional fuses with blade terminals.

I agree, I rewired mine starting with a modern fusebox. And use the supplier Jon mentions too :)
