Well, now that I have a slightly buggered arm, can anyone tell me if acad arms are different to 2cvs etc? Can I just swap a 2cv one on? or a whole front axle? I'm sure I've heard in the past that they are different somehow, but cant remember what. Also, flicking through the cassis catalogue shows they sell a specifically acad arm, and another for all the rest. |

You'll need to fit a pair of 2cv arms, the attachment point for the knife edge is at a different distance (nearer on Acadiane) from the hub giving a different suspension rate. smyth602 wrote: Well, now that I have a slightly buggered arm, can anyone tell me if acad arms are different to 2cvs etc? If you fit 2cv arms, the drive plate and wheel bearing needs to be 2cv as well. Van bearings are bigger and won't fit, unless you move over the hub |

Interesting info, thanks chaps! Interestingly, those aren't any reasons I remember hearing before so it must have been something else I was thinking of. I get the feeling it'll just be easier to source a proper arm. So is it a specific acad arm I need, or will any van arm do? |

Ami6, ami8, acadyane arms are thicker then 2cv (about 1mm) So I wouldn't use 2cv arms........ Try to find original ACA arms (Vicking voluntered already.....) |

If the only problem with the existing arm is damage to the 'blocks' into which the damper mounting plate bolts are threaded, it's not that difficult to chop out the old ones and weld on some replacements, is it?  I'm sure Russell did this to convert a friction damper arm to hydraulic damper type... ken |

I made some triangular gussets and welded them either side of the blocks the damper plate mounts onto and retapped them m10. In an emergency I've used an acad arm in a 2cv with the outer acad driveshaft. It worked ok until I had a proper set made. |

My welding ain't worth shit, to be honest, so i wouldn't trust it on something as important as the shock mount. |

you dont need to weld them - take them off buff off the tack welds at the back - take what's left of the bolt out and re tap to M10 - buy some M10 bolts and shakeproof washers, cut bolts down to size fit and forget. if you need them welding find Panelbeaterpeter or bring them down here. |
