Post subject:  Warning lights
Hey folks!

I was thinking I might change the original warning lights for oil-pressure, turn signal and high-beam in the dashboard, with led ones from eBay.

Can somebody tell me the diameter of the holes in the instrument panel?
(2CV from the 80's)

If you re-use the Citroen lamp holders you can fit a 5mm per-wired (eBay) LED. The LED colour will show through the original plastic lens. Have some pics if you wish.

I was thinking something like this, not use the original lamp holders...
(Not sure if they are plastic or metal,though)

light emitting diodes may be far to bright especially at night
i can,t see the point of fitting them

Yep,they are a bit bright,but you can tone them down with some nail varnish ;)

Well, except the high beam light, they're not supposed to be on during driving, are they?
But if the blue light for the high beam are too bright, it's a bit annoying, true.
But then again, a bright oil-pressure light can make all the difference on a bright sunny day, if something should happen to the oil-pressure.
Same goes for the turn-signal, if you forget to turn it of after waiting at a red light, while The Knack and Sharona rocks the ICE.

But the point is mostly the oil pressure light. It's on when I use my stereo at night,car parked, and I was thinking "why not have a led-light, it will make the battery last a couple of seconds more".
And I just wanted to try it ;)

BTW: My 123ignition is cutting the current to the coil,when the engine is not running. So no worries with the "ignition on for music" ;)

guess you've got an ignition setup which cuts the power to the coil when it detects that the engine isn't running?
Mind you, that won't stop the current drain through the alternator field circuit... ;)

or the appropriate value of resistor fitted in series?
