ok, dumb question.............

the levers on my column have a life of their own, need holding in place when using indicator or it just spins around the column......how is it supposed to be secured ???

The indicator switch usually slots onto a metal bracket, which in turn is held in place by the headlamp switch clamp bolt.

Aye, but my problem is that the tube that the clamp attaches to is moving.....

Too many spacers fitted to the bracket which clamps the steering tube onto the parcel shelf, or maybe they're fitted in the wrong location?

The rubber 'wedge' should grip the steering tube when the U clamp nuts are tight...
