Should this be glowing RED all the time. Since I have had the car (about 3 weeks) this light has never gone off (other than when I turn off the ignition). When the engine is running it is still on. Now, I have just had problems with my battery going low, I put it down to lots of work on the lights without running the engine. But when I took it out for a spin and to get some petrol, the headlights (first time I have used them) were very very very dim (first time in a 6 volt but I have just put in new white bulbs) and when I came to restart, nothing at all. So do I have an issue with my recharging circuit i.e. should the RED light go off when I am driving. Would this be a dynamo issue ?? Cheers Ian |

Are you sure it is not Oil pressure light? |

Ian, on an older A series equipped with a crankshaft mounted dynamo, the red light will be a 'lack of charge' warning light. Your van does have a 425cc engine, not a 435cc, iirc? ![]() ken |

Yep, it is 425cc So would this be lack of charge by the Dynamo? |

Unfortunately, it will be. ![]() Check the dynamo brushes first, as that's the easiest option. ken Tripyrenees wrote: Yep, it is 425cc So would this be lack of charge by the Dynamo? |
