| Post subject: | Dead Fuel gauge |
Hi guys, A friend's 2CV has got a dead fuel gauge. All the wiring is good, we tried a different gauge in that worked fine, sadly, can't keep that one in there. It seems to be the actual gauge itself that has died. The needle isn't stuck, it still moves freely and slowly if you tilt the gauge, and we tried connecting a 9v battery to it to see if it moved at all but, nothing. Is there any reason as to why the actual gauge itself would stop working? All the coils inside look perfect, and there are no breaks in the wires that are soldered on. Thanks. |

may look ok but its broke -fit another one (Its works as a bi metallic strip wound with a resistance wire, the wire heats up and warms the bi metallic strip which expands - and moves the needle) |

make sure theres a live feed on one terminal, then earth the other terminal the needle should go to full, if it doesn,t the guage is kaphut if it does the sender in the tank mabye faulty(common fault) i think thats right--- |
