they seem to drop the whole body at the back by a bit if you look at the older cars they had a definite tail high stance

I've left them off , fitted them to the front and TBH don't make a bit of differance

but then again Ive never had a special red set :P

With at least one make of chassis, they will lift the rear axle enough to cause this to happen...

We have contact... by slcchassis, on Flickr

Not the easiest part to get at to make a repair, unfortunately/

Their weakness is the dowel, which will break off if the axle bolts aren't correctly torqued.
I never bother fitting them, fwiw.

Noticed this on Sams D*lly too. I guess now the body is off it may be the time to remove them.

In his book "How to restore Citroen 2CV", Linsdsay Porter is claiming that these plates also act as suspension stops. (p.173).
But really don't know.

They don't stop the suspension though, in fact they make contact between the knife edge part of the arm and the rear of the body more likely.

Droop stops?
With the alloy packer removed, the tab on the suspension arm contacts the top of the chassis instead.

( I don't suppose that a chassis which has the rear axle 5mm too far forwards helps with lack of clearance, mind you.
Might also be worth checking for contact between the top of suspension canisters towards the rear mounting, as they're a bit on the high side... ;) )

this is another prob, this is a 3 wheeler, a lomax :( (my brothers)-not mine
we found that the FULL top to bottom travel ,of the rear arm (thats turned inward of course) affects the angle of the rear rodS as THEY come out of the suspension cans
the rod virtually touches the upper&lower threaded sleeve that they protude from

if the vehicle went over a big bump
or if it had a load in the back, the rear suspension pull- rod would rub or bend at the can output
-------------
i think we must moderate the stops to reduce travel up & down!
downs no prob , but up when flying over the hump back bridge nearbye, might, the upward bit might result in a bent rod :D i,ll post pics later

The same thing happens on standard cars. When the suspension is at its fullest extremes the rods can rub the threaded can mounting. Usually when adjusting the suspension on pretty much all my cars I've had to take the weight of the wheel before the rod will turn as its forced up against that part.
