Post Small diesel engine in a 2cv
Never heard of this being done, but someone somewhere must have fitted a small diesel engine to one of Citroen's finest. Although I can't think of an engine that would do the job myself. Anyone know of anything? Just out of interest, I'm not thinking of converting mine.

....I dunno about the feasibility of the engine fitting into a 2CV though ......but its a two cylinder diseasal engine,it even sounds like my 2CV when he drives past our house.
More info here ....

....it seems [to me] that the idea of them is for "shit for brains bikers" who can't pass a car test to get into the car market now that Reliant have demised.

best regards

Funnily enough, I had a conversation about these yesterday; they're MOT'd as quad bikes
Our local Aixam dealer also sells vacuum cleaner parts :geek:

The only thing about using a diesel (I thought about this question before) is the gearbox ratios. As most diesels work at slower rpms than petrol will have to somehow up the output shaft speed to match petrol rpms. My wife's 2.2 diesel turbo runs happily all day at 2000 rpm. How fast would 2cv go with engine only doing 2000rpm

God only knows why you would want to put a diesel engine in a 2cv.But here in France there's loads of two seater diesel engined mini cars that chug about and I mean chug!!! They are so bloody noisy and slow, you can't really imagine doing that to a 2cv. You might get megga miles per gallon but the cost of headache tablets and visits to the dentist to put your fillings back would out weight any saving there LOL
