If it helps, I think a lot of the parts are either the same, or similar to Dyane bonnet releases. Maybe useful to know for getting spares.

The good news is that it is the same LHD and RHD as the release linkage didn't change over.

If it makes you feel any better, mine is crap at popping up too.

Do yo have the spring that's attached to the bonnet? 2CVGB had a few of these in Ruskington. Can you send me a pic of your current set-up.

Cheers

Matt

Hi MATTT

I can confirm that there isn't a spring on the bonnet pin and never was one from new. There is a sprung loaded safety catch to its left as you look into the engine bay. This in combination with the spring in the bonnet catch in the front panel are what make the bonnet pop up on release. Although mine doesn't and neither does yours by the sound of it. Nothing to worry about :D

hi there
spent an hour cleaned all the old grease out moved the catch around in all 4 directions ,saw the spring underneath that pushes plate against the pin >It seems quite strong but still wont pop the bonnet up
Repaired the broken cable though so now at least I only have to pull the lever and lean over the door and put something down the wing/bonnet join and pop it open
Its just an annoying thing when you need to open the bonnet !

Usually the panel gaps are generous enough so that you can get your fingers underneath the front edge of the bonnet.
