As some of you know, my 2cv is an early 1975 car which came to me with batteurs on the front. These are standard as far as I'm aware, but I'm not sure if the car should have shock absorbers or friction dampers or both fitted? Anyone have an idea what would have been correct? I believe it may have been made in the Forest factory, Belgium. |

Ben, according to 2CVGB's handbook, hydraulic dampers replaced the friction & inertia damping arrangement on the front axle in September 1975. The change for the rear dampers had taken place during 1971. I did a lot of work on this 1975 car recently, which has had one owner since 1976 and it's got the setup described above. ken ![]() A 1975 2CV... by slcchassis, on Flickr ![]() Brown, braun, brun... by slcchassis, on Flickr |

I found this and I think it is valid. It's from an official repair manual of 1986 |
