my D*lly has good-ish brakes--- ive adjusted the handbrake uesing the correct skinny hexagon spanner

it has discs up front of course-but- as i brake, with my foot,&coming too a stop-- it kind of (how can i explain) it brakes really good- then not so good ,all within a very short cycle/turn, of the wheels(my head rocks back and forth!!
its no prob at speed btw
it seems to me, that the rear drums maybye a bit oval?
of even the front disks distorted?
i reckon its the rear drums being oval ?

Drawing from my experience with motorcycle brakes, an oval drum should manifest itself as a gentle pulse through the pedal as you apply the brakes. Any help?

You may jack up the rear wheels and check the rotation by applying a little by little force to the pedal.
Also you may adjust the snail cams.

Mine are very similar, ayjay.

Considering that the front brakes do the majority of the braking, I'm guessing - at least in my case - that it's my front discs that are out-of-true, probably warped. I suspect that out-of-true rears wouldn't have such a noticeable effect.

I intend to replace the front discs when I refurb the car.

Properly set up the rears do a fair bit
a warped disk tends to have the pistons either side going in and out thus cancelling the pulse effect, or rather reducing i .

My guess is the rears have been tampered with recently? the rear shoes need to be checked that they both pivot freely on the lower pivots and that the shoes have been properly centred. Finally check the rear bearing is located in its housing the retaining ring done up tight and the whole lot torqued up to FT.

thanks fellas i,ll have a look at it later, its not that bad, but its very noticable when i am just coming to a stop, i never brake hard at the last moment, i normally brake gently when coming up to stationary traffic, thats when its noticable

What happens when you bring your car to a gentle halt using only your handbrake? Can you feel it then too?

thats a good idea devils ad-- that way i can find out whether its a rear brake problem, rather than the front
