Post subject:  Oil pressure sensor replacement

Hello.
My "new" engine has a steady oil leak from the left hand side of the engine. Tonight, I took the wing off and think i have identified the oil pressure sensor as the culprit. I have a new spare sensor but access looks a little tight. How hard are they to replace? I hope to be able to do it this weekend - the car is going to France in two weeks and I want to be able to do a few miles in it beforehand. One thing that's nagging me though; when my mum's oil sender failed, it dumped pretty much all it's oil in one go. Is it unusual for the sensors to just drip steadily? Any advice would be most welcome!
Thanks,
Rob

I think they tend to fail as you suggest, in a dramatic fashion, however it might well be at fault, I don't really know if they ever fail with a steady drip-drip as opposed to a massive spurting. If it's around that area, maybe take the engine cowlings off (or if they're rubber, undo the screws and peel them apart)and check that it's not the cylinder head feed pipes. It's not the most fun job as it's a bit awkward to get to, but not impossible.

I've replaced the sensor and the leak seems to have stopped. There's a slight weep from the rocker cover now but nothing to serious.

I've been trying to get hold of an ECAS CPD valve but they have run out. I'm going to order a new breather tomorrow...
