I've got some cardboard dump tubes from ECAS. Do they require cutting to size?

Standing in front of the car looking into the engine bay, the right hand tube seems to fit/line up ok. The left hand side there is a shorter distance between exchanger and wing hole, and they don't line up either. Will I be needing to manipulate the tube on this side? It looks like a kink is required. I did not want to rip the tube as they are quite delicate.

I wonder if the length needs cutting back or it might rub on the wheel during cornering where it enters the wheel arch.

The car has never had tubes so can't refer to the old one for reference.

I just replaced mine, as the old ones crumbled when I took the wings off the other week, but I fitted the new fangled rubber ones which was a doddle and they fit well, as the accordion like rubber bellows sections allow for plenty of movement.

They don't need cutting to size. But it will probably be a lot easier to take the wing off first, connect the dump tube to the heat exchanger (secure with jubilee clip) and then put the wing on over the tube.

its a sod of a job trying to fit the old type with the wing on, you have to put your hand inside the tube and pass it in through the inner wing from the wheel arch
i wonder why the holes in the inner wings don,t line up?

It's not that difficult?

Turn it as you insert it and it'll be ok

hi james, ive tryed that, only to get skinned knuckles and still the buggers wont go onto the heat dump stub ,or only go on a bit, then of fall off /become detached
i think i,ll get 2 of those offset rubber ones

You'll be doing yourself a huge favour. I fitted a pair of these in the Autumn last year, very easy, secured them with large cable ties to the exchangers and they haven't moved at all. And they look very tidy to boot! I did find that spending a little time removing all the old seal around the wing hole and cleaning the edges up helped greatly with the ease of fitting.
