A strange question but has anyone cut up a swinging arm,I was just wondering how thick they are,as I will have to use a hacksaw as there is no power where I'm thinking of doing this and I don't have the luxury of a battery power angle grinder

One of my swivel housings has a very duff thread for the bottom plug ( not my doing ) I have located a 2cv/Ami chassis that the swivel housings look fine on. I intend to unbolt the arms if possible,but as the chassis is at the top of a bank and has the odd small sapling growing through it,so it might not be possible,hence the idea of hacksawing them through,whcih I would rather not have to do,but needs must also the mounting webs forthe knife edges are all bent

ami may have the larger bearings

Ami arms are thicker.
Ami rear arms are smaller 1220mm insted of 1260mm (Track width??)
Ami super front arms are wider!! (Track width??)

To be honest, it sounds like a lot of fart-arseing about when 2cv arms aren't hard to find. I've probably got a couple you could have, although they're in the UK. Might be easier to whip the arms off then take them back to somewhere with tools/equipment, all you'd need then is a 14mm socket, snips and a decent sized flat screwdriver and hammer. And maybe take tools to separate the steering arms if they're still attached.

Russell I only want the swivel housing,however having Taken arms off I know it's not that hard,but the chassis is upside down and held so by a sapling or two,At least I will have to cut the steering arm. Thanks anyway

So 2cv chassis DO grow on trees in France.

Take your trusty 6 point 17mm socket, a breaker bar (and a hammer to give those axle bolts their 'wake up' call ).

You may still have to do some woodcutting as well as knocking out the knife edge pins, but at day's end you should have a pair of front arms, maybe some good steering arms and there'd also be an Ami front cross member/axle spare to bung on Leboncoin...
