Post subject:  Carburetor manifold
I need to replace the carburetor manifold on my car. I have two spares, both donors from old engines (engines of unknown origin). Both look the same. Questions are: How Many different types of manifold are there? Which is the right one for a 1987 D*lly? If you had a picture that would be dead handy.

its probably going to be ok given how relatively rare anything else, other than a twin barrel M28 manifold, is.

You might find your spares have the insulating flange still attached which look like this:

It's worth replacing that and buying new gaskets too.

Yep, that's an M28 twin choke manifold.

Thanks for the confirmation 8-)

Few more questions :)

1/ Is it worth me painting the manifold with high temp engine lacquer to make it look posh, or will it just peel off and look shite?

2/ Is it any easy/straightforward job to swap, or should I get a proper mechanic on the job? Don't want the car laid up for too long if I'm doing it, but I do fancy having a go :P

Nah don't bother painting.

Swapping over is straight forward, but depends on the condition of your existing manifold nuts.

How do they look?
