I am fitting an old type reverse speedo, 6v console to my 2cv which is 12v.
I know I will need to swap the bulbs etc. but will the fuel gauge work as a direct swapn?
My 2cv is a '74 with the steel fuel tank if that helps...

Thanks

Harley

Harley, a problem Russ highlighted was that the speeds of later 2cvs mean that the old style speedos are maxed out whilst cruising at 60mph+ which evantually buggers the internals.

There was a thread on this recently and the concensus was to fit a resister between the fuel sender and the guage.

I'm not 100% sure that's what buggered it, but it was off the clock when I was doing 40mph and the car regularly did 80mph, so I assume constantly being held right round the gauge might have been the cause. It ended up sitting at about 70kmh when stationary then flew round off the clock as soon as the car was in motion. But aside from that, apparently you solder a resistor across the fuel gauge terminals and change the buld and Roberts your mothers brother.

And no, I don't know what type/size/flavour resistor.
