Came back from supermarket, parked stupidily to unload.......Shopping out I went ti move the car.....Key would not go back in then I broke it in the struggle.....F*ck !!

So car immobile in a stupid place, what to do next...Thank goodness for battery powered tools...An hour later, skint knuckles, LOTS of swearing, burnt finger and the column is loose.

A couple of bolts with most of the head removed allowed a temp securing of the column and a surprisingly simple hotwire and we are back in action!

Sooooooo, whats the alternative to 100 quids worth of replacement lock?

New clamp is a given, what size is the nut? I'd rather not use shear nuts...

Last thing I needed tonight :( :( :( :( :( :(

Cheers
Gerry

Gerry

I had this once,

i gave it a touch of Wd in the lock and bob was my uncle once again

i geuss its too late to say that

You can disable the steering lock in 30 seconds on a 2cv, its un believable easy,

as for hotwiring, i always carry my hot wire kit in the boot just incase ;) even got proper 2cv connections from a 2cv loom to make it plug and play quickly ;)

48pop, what new parts do you need? Replacement barrels - for the ignition and 2 doors - is around £25 akaIk. And you'll have 3 new keys too...
