I have the stainless exhaust that has always had small leaks at the cross box connections. I disconnect the three connections from the crossbox and none of them line up to go back together. Anyone have advise on how to line them up and stop the leaks? Thanks |

Losen the exhaust manifold nuts a few turns, then try the line up. |

Hang the crossbox off the gearbox, loosen the exhaust manifold clamps, smear the faces of all the joints with copper grease & wiggle & jiggle till you get everything lined up & then tighten. |

I did spent the money and got burton clamps all around. Straight from burton, ecas was crazy for shipping to Chicago. |

As neil says, avoid traditional exhaust paste, which dries hard, cracks and fall out leaving a mess that's virtually impossible to seal up without lots of arsing about with wire brushed etc. copper grease every time for exhaust joints. |

thanks for the advice, I just finished cleaning off all exhaust paste that had been on used by the person that did the intital installation. I was not me!! Time to grease and put back together |

Sorry for hijacking this thread but i am going to try and fix this point for the third time. It is alsmost impossible for my car to line the pipe and the crossbox. THe reosen for that must be a bended pipe ( through close ground contacts ) and the end of the crossbox is damaged too. I was using the glue solutions but if these two cant joined together thne the glue will last only for days. At this point i am thinking of welding a pipe in the crossbox which will extend 3-4cm so the pipe from the exhaust will go around it forcing the gas into the pipe. What is your opinion on this mod guys ? |
