Under load or low revs 5th gear pinking is very noticeable.
Any ideas whats causing it or where to start looking? Should i avoid cheap ASDA fuel (129.9 / litre)

Cheers

Tim,
assuming the timing is set correctly in the first instance, might be worth checking whether the vacuum advance/retard is working OK.
There should be a small bore vacuum pipe connected between the carburettor and the distributor.

I think you have conterweights, try to back up them a little (bend them) so you have less advance.

I hope you know what I mean.... otherwise I try to explain it better........

Need to unpack my timing gun then and have a check. As for the little vacuum pipe, I have just checked and it is there and appears in good condition, even the rubber end sleeves!
