Post Fiberglass panels
What do we think of fiberglass panels? One of my rear wings is plastic, and I must say very impressive.

What is the general opinion of replacing worn out metal with plastic?

the lack of rust is probably the number one reason in my book! i guess they are a bit lighter too?

yes that certainly appeals to make the car lighter
I always thought fibreglass lacked definition, but the rear wing I have looks as good as the metal one.

I've got two fi-glass front wings [of an unknown make] on my 2cv .....the fit is'nt quite as good as the originals ....but it needs careful examination to tell [most people dont know they're fi-glass until I tell 'em].
I dunno as they're any lighter though .... :?

I'm not sure that fibreglass panels are any lighter - possibly be a touch heavier.

Bob Marshall was a supplier of good quality fibreglass gear - although i believe he's since moved to France - does anyone know if production has been resumed?

I agree that they're probably not any lighter if they're well made.

From working with grp on boats my concern woud be star cracking and bruising; a steel panel would probably ship rather than 'star.'

I think its much easier to work with grp (for those of us that don't weld)
