Evening all, For the last few weeks (since I finally got the engine back in one piece) my car whiffs strongly of petrol, but only when it's cold. It's fine when it's warmed up and runs okay hot or cold. I've not looked any further into it than making sure the fuel pipes aren't leaking but will hopefully get the time to have a proper look next week. Any suggestions? Float level? |

Have a look at the engine when its running. When its cold and the choke is out, could it be leaking from the little hole in the inlet manifold? You would think the suction from the engine wouldnt allow it,but its worth a look. |

It's normal to have a petrol smell on cold start ups as you have unburned fuell down to the exhaust. You cannot have a accurate choke adjustment by hand. Nevertheless you may check fuel lines, pump, carb, manifold, expansion chamber etc. |
