Post Lomax air filters
Ay Up!

Has anybody had any experience of these air filters intended for Lomaxes...

http://www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk/filter-lo ... -1710.html

Seem a bit pricey(!) but are they any good?

I'm still looking for an air filter set up for J (lhd 2cv with spare wheel carrier under bonnet) that allows the oil breather to be attached.

Standard plastic 2CV filter no longer fits, and a dyane filter box fouls on the headlight adjuster.

Cheers all.

Aidan

not the best.
it appears that the 2cv engine "double chokes" where the charge passes in and out the carb at certain revs and for optimum performace you need to have the area about 50mm above the top of the carb free from obstruction ....like the top of that pancake filter

however it'll stop bees and small children from falling in and so is slightly better than nowt

The Dyane filter box is metal isn't it? Could it have the bottom modified to clear the adjuster or would it be an important bit that was cut off?

I think it depends on the Dyane, but the later ones use a 2cv air box with a different mounting bracket.

Rumble, how desperate are you for this? I could have a crack at making one that uses standard 2cv filter element.

Once tried the air-filter on the bulkhead, with pipe to carb. Would not rev.

Sean is this the reason?

Joolz - yes I've got a metal bodied dyane filter box... could reengineer it to clear the adjuster mech, but this would mean me lamping it with a hammer. Will have a go.

Russ - if a standard 2cv filter box could be modified to sit in a different position it would be a neat solution - but a custom job would be even neater! I'll have a look at the weekend and take some pictures.

Cheers Russ. The simplest option though would be to sell my 60's spare wheel carrier and get summat like this...

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=310&start=10

this...

http://www.franzose.de/en/Citroen-2CV/A ... /ANR19029/

or this

http://www.pp-2cv.be/EN/News/SupportRoue.htm

and then run a standard 2CV air filter.

That's its function, it is only a work around for a failed bonnet/carb closeness design, a piece of nylon mesh will work better as an air filter.
