Post subject:  AMI 8 estate headlining removal

Hi all,
want to make a start in the next few weeks on the roof repair and need to get the headlining out.
It looks like it just comes out in 1 big peice?
anyone took one out before ,if so any tips or is it pretty straightforward?

thanks
Matt

heres a tip for you, carefully. yes they come out in 1 piece but you need to start at the rear and gently pull inwards and downwards starting on 1 side slowly moving forwards.once you have got it most of the way down start moving the whole thing out through the rear. Im gussing it an estate car. you will need some one pulling from outside the car at at least 1 other person inside to support it as you withdraw it. its mounted on some sort of fibre board stuff. this can break so have a spare pair of hands to support it as you withdraw it from the car. its a pig of a job but it can be done if you are careful. I remember quite a few years ago and we are talking at least 20 now we had a friend that made a vanclee based on an ami super and he didnt want the super so we cut the roof off to get the lining out. by the way the ami was scrap before we got there. ps ive not put one back in yet but will have to at some point on dads ami 6 when he gets round to it.
