Post Steering Column removal
Ok before I start this job, apart from the clamp in the groove at the rack end, my car doesn't have a steering lock. Does this mean that I can just take the clamp off and get it out with a mallet? I just don't want to start this job and not be able to finish it because I need the car in a few hours. Cheers

You probably will need a mallet

Grease the bottom on re assembly,
If your steering locks non existent it should be fine. If not its 30 seconds to pop it back in and re clamp!!

 While you have it off ( no not that  ) make the slot in the bottom of the column a bit longer, either hack saw or angle grinder this will make it clamp better onto the steering rack.
