What age is the wiring in that thing? Have you got the dim-dip stuff on it? Actually that's a silly question, I'm sure Spanners wouldn't have fitted it, or would have binned it if someone else had. In which case if you've got relays, then it's a bit modified and hard for us to guess. Any more clues?

 Re: lights... or lack of
It's probably a bad connectiOn on the relays or a duff relay

Had exactly the same thing the other week. Its the relay. £4.27 off ecas, but one that's next to the battery as opposed to the one that you might have on the front of the chassis rail? Something like that anyway. Or I may be talking bollocks.

Check to see if the dipped beams come on at reduced intensity with the sidelights when the ignition is on, as they should. If they do, then I'd put my money on the 5 wire relay being at fault.

The real question is, why is anyone still running around with the perishing dim-dip system still hooked up when it's been mentioned repeatedly that it _will_ damage the light switch? Get rid of the relays near the battery, whatever remains of the resistor on the front of the chassis and also the diode cable tied to the flasher unit, then fit a short 'jumper' lead on the 5 pin relay plug and job's a good one... Jumper lead to bypass dim dip by slcchassis, on Flickr ken
