Post subject:  Speedometer Wiring

Guys hello again from greece.

This time i took off the speedometer and the reoson for that is the light that didn't worked.

So i was trying to figure out if there is any cable missing from me speedometer.

Image

I can see on the left side that something is missing. I mean thhere is a trace of some connection . DO you know what do i have to put there ? TThis is the side of the battery indicator. And by the way the indicator works fine.

On the fuel gauge i have to cables . But on the tank i am getting only one cable coming from the front side of the vehicle. The manyal says the other one is a Flying lead . Can anyone tell me what is the meaning of that.

No all fine the bit on the left is the adjustment bit which was covered with a bit of tape

The hole top centre is the holder for the bulb, which is in a small nylon plug with a lead and terminal, it may be still attached to the wiring in the rest of the loom.

The terminal below that hole with the hex nut is the earth for the whole dash.

the paper spots correspond to the colours code of the wire that attaches.

PS" flying lead" is just a long piece of wire, loose, not bundled in with the loom

the Purple conection is the 12v from ignition and is joined with the purple one for the charge/battery one
The 12v goes in to the gauge and comes out the yellow one at nearer 8-10v and then goes via the cable to the fuel tank where it goes into the variable resistor then out to earth under the car.

as the fuel drops the resistor increases and so the movement at the needle on the gage is less and so it points at the Empty side of the gauge
