Ok I've got bored of the car being pitch black when i get in it now so I bought an interior light. I've been told the wiring should already be there near to where the the join between the passenger doors is. Thing is it ain't there. There's a connection under the bonnet that's always had tape around the connector. Not sure what its meant to do but it would be heading in the same direction the other wires. If it's a constant 12v I'll be fine to take it off that without a fuse won't I? I know it sounds abit of a silly question, but I'm paranoid since I fiddled with my radio connections and it smelt of fish and lots of smoke came out of it. Cheers, J |

I am not a technical guy....so this is just sent as common sense I hope Interior lights (in the UK) were on certain models on the drivers side, not the passenger side...so correct me if I am wrong, but its near your right ear hole not over the other side! Unless you have LHD or are so pissed you are pointing backwards! Not sure about "dodgey" connections under the bonnet....but for me I have run a separate wire to a separate fuse box. This powers my CD, extra lights and CB....all fused individually. If you take a wire from the battery and stick a fuse in it then connect that to your new light and all should be ok. If you have any 12v connection that is constant and doesnt go anywhere I would be very worried, especially if it were not fused....there are cleverer people and more knwoledgeable than me, but I simply do not know of an original 2CV connection that is live and unfused. ...and why would you want one anyway? For me I would be concerned about this live wire, and run a safe feed to your light ....or buy a torch! |

Yeah I know. I'm a dick. Yes the fuse had gone, but in a panic I just ripped out the headunit which (I didn't know at the time) had a wiring harness almost impossible to put back together that Andy had spent 4 hours wiring up properly.  So I just bought a new one instead. And cheers hadn't struck me it might be the wrong side Will investigate in daylight.

Mine was on the passenger side, '88 special. Have a look in that bunch of connections above the battery, I think it was a black one, but I'm not 100%. If you're feeling clever you can rig up a spare brake light switch on the door hinge, to make it automatic. |

I've always wanted to so that bit I'll never get round to it or it won't work! The wiring on mine runs up inside the lining, on the rhs. You can see the wire to the right of the dash |

Now that explains why I could'nt find the wire on my '88 [Portugese built] spesh .....I was lookin' at the drivers side for it.There just aint no wire there on my car .....[trust me,I took all of the "headling/grey stuff" out] btw .... I just wired a "club" spec light unit in at the the drivers side ....I ran it straight off the battery with an "in line" fuse as near to the positive [+] terminal as possible and then ran the wires underneath the "headlniing/grey stuff".....[just for the info. it has a 5A fuse in it,]. hth T. |

Passenger side, indeterminate age, didn't work so just wired one with a separate switch. |
