Harley
Will post some pics of my mods to show how longer springs can be fitted.
NB. A change in the wire Diameter makes a large change to the spring rate
eg 1mm change can alter the rate 250 ft/lb try the calulator
ps Are you the Harley that did the Turbo GS?

why not just buy the uprated springs that 'normal' suppliers advertise.
i guess its more expensive to have some new ones made than to buy those ones?? i dunno.

I come from alanddownunda... shipping is to expensive to Australia, I have had several quotes and cheaper for me to purchase locally, + Ecas do did not reply to my request.

No, but i do have an EFI megasquirt 2cv and am currently building a Visa engine with twin spark and supercharger  :D

Does anyone have the specs of their uprated springs? wire diamiter, length, number of coils?

Cheers
Harley

OK on the megasquirt, what are you using for a throttle body? I have acquired a Nissan micra with TPS etc but thats all at the moment.

Have taken springs off for a, spring Clean:)
They are uprated springs and etched as follows
Originally from ECAS for 2cv racing??, but will enquire and try to get the specs...
Front
2CV F 200 x 1050 lbs
The 200 is the length in mm, have measured wire diameter @ 15.9mm No . of Coils seven counting from the flat ends

Rear
2CV R 230 x 1050 lbs
The length is 230mm, Wire diameter @16.75 No. of coils 8
See pics of set up
Attachment:

Rear mount, adaptor made by Louis Barbour, round plate with tube to locate spring.

Front mount
Use standard threaded tube no rubber doughnut.

Shortened spring cups

Rear Springs
Left hand IS uprated, dont know why it is so long? shall enquirte Right Hand is standard
Attachment:

Front Springs
Right Hand is standard
Note the left is actually no longer parrallel, I drove many off road miles with open springs
so I reckon spring can or the like are essential, I think the original designer knew a thing or two!
The current set use the 4 rear spring to get a good ride height, but they are actually to stiff,

Re Spring rates i could tell all!!
As i have all this info
Basically go no more than 10 to 25% up on normal rate
+ you can lengthen the rear spring by about 30 mm
and still get the springs in the original cans

I can do of the shelf a set of normal rate + 25 %
we use these in the off roaders
they should just fit in the cans
However MOST important you must use the Ami 8 spring buffer Rubbers as
the smaller dia 2cv ones will just burst

Typical spring costs are £35 each = 140 for a full set
But if anyopne wants a set they should bell me before end of May cos i'll be gone for 3 months after that date!!
dad

PS 4x4 type chassis but for 4x2 use should be available by year end

Hi Louis,

Thanx for the info. Can you provide me with the wire diameter of the uprated springs you use + number of coils, etc. Do you recommend lengthening the rear spring 30mm? is this done buy adding extra coils?

Where can i get the Ami 8 spring buffer Rubbers from?
You mean this part?

Ecas have 170% uprated for lowered cars, i assume this is 70% harder, not 170% harder... But i do remember reading that racers go 100%+ harder.

I am still planning to run at standard height, most of the time;)
Cheers

Harley
