What is the trick to closing those Citroen type clamps onto the rubber gaitors.
They seem to be more professional that plastic ties.
There must be a special factory tool used to close them. What do us amateurs use?
With all the flexing of the universals, its nice to know you are not rustproofing the engine compartment if and when a gaiter comes a cropper.

I believe they are called Ligarex ties and they use a special tool to close them. If you can't do them up again, replace with a cable tie. I might be wrong.

They are indeed ligarex http://www.ligatech.ch/index_e.html

Cable are the future though.

So what are these called?
Are they any good?
I would guess that a special tool is required to install.
They seem to be included in some gaiter kits.

1 Dont know the proper name
2 Must be as many proper gaiter kits and 2cv* kits use them as well as most OE aplication
3Not really, close them as tight as you can till the teeth catch then close up the bit under the square raised section using pliers or pincers or whatever you have in the tool box

*see that spell checker stuff biting me on the ass there should be "C-V" kits not "2cv kits"

That's interesting, Sean since I have removed several during my recent renovation and none of them had a scrunched up "Raised" section. There must be a proprietary tool that is a secret, known only by the anonymous manufacturer

They are called Oetiker Clips, are expensive, but they are witout doubt the best clips for fuel lines. We use them on EFI and MPI outboards/inboards.
