Ok this is proper weird. When I turn my indicators on, the fan pulley thing (or something around there) seems to start making a puffing/sqeaking noise. Something to do with the voltage I'm guessing? :? Problem or no problem?

Yeah but that's not normal and if JKs has started doing it when it didn't before....

Sounds like the extra drain is putting strain on the alternator? Is it the original? Could be time for a service.

Sam,mines a new alternator and an electronic regulator and it does this.Charging seems fine,no flat batteries or anything detrimental, Yet.

I'm not really loving 2cv electrical systems at the moment. D*lly started fine last night after 2 weeks, drove t'barn today - she wouldn't start. Bump started it and drove home with almost no lights, VR was outputting 7v. Battery on charge and spare VR attached.

BTW, I prefer the old mechanical ones - they're adjustable
