Yesterday I went over a big curb and got the chassis temporarily wedged on it,and now when the wheel is turned there is quite a loud squeaking noise, like rubber on rubber kind of squeak. It isn't constant and comes and goes, but I've had a look and I can't see anything that's causing it. Nothing wrong with the actual steering and there's no play in the rack or anything. Any ideas? |

I hope it is not what I am thinking, but it can be that your chasis is kinked (google translator), then your steering wheel gets under tension, is the steering as light as ever or heavier...... Look at you're chassis in front of the suspension can if everything looks normal. Look for litle foldings in the chassis etc. Good luck.... ![]() ![]() |

It's an aftermarket chassis, not a particularly good one either, but no, steering hasn't got heavier. Will check though. This'll be a LOL moment if I've ducked the chassis up. |

Chassis squeak is a sign of a bending chassis, it was exactly what somebody said to the other James when he complained about steering squeak. However, Jameswallace's steering squeak was caused by rust making the chassis squeak so it bent - you may have just twatted it and bent it so could it be bent back? It's not like its going to rust... |

Loosen the u bolt under the dash and re align everything to the new settings ![]() but flexible chassis are good! ![]() |

Kind of forgot about this, but basically it went away. I did look at the chassis and from what I can see it looks fine with no obvious cracks or anything. If it does come back though I'll do what Sean said and reset the steering. Anyway, Cheers all |
