 602 Gearbox
Now heres one for the tech experts out there in I2F land - did they only do one gearbox for the cars fitted with a 602 engine?

 Re: 602 Gearbox
Technically no, the old M4 type 602 used the tin top gearbox, but that's all pre 1970 so I assume you're not interested in those. The M28/1 602s all used the same gearbox although the ratios vary depending on what it's fitted in 2cv, dyane, ami, etc. Also '70s used drum brakes, '80s used discs (approximately). There's a list of ratios here if you need it, 3/4 of the way down, Gearbox, Modern type. http://cats-citroen.net/citroen_atypes/ ... arbox.htmlBut iirc racers are only allowed the 2cv gearbox ratios.

 Re: 602 Gearbox
As in 602s in any A series. Pre 1970 there were all sorts of shenanigans. The 602 M4 was mated to various boxes in the Ami 6, AK350, 2cv, Dyane, etc... However I think there were also different versions of the later 602 box. The AKS400 and Mehari share a 'low' ratio box (there's a chasm between 1st and 2nd, on the Mehari I generally pull away in 2nd unless I'm towing).

 Re: 602 Gearbox
http://www.gearbox-guru.co.uk/Rick Pembro does hybrid boxes - I've always wanted to try something along the lines of AK 1st, 2cv 2nd and 3rd and Dyane or Ami 4th. But that would be a very looooong gearbox.

 Re: 602 Gearbox
There are something like 37 theoretical ratio combinations that can be created from the standard Citroen ratios. Or so I'm told by someone I know in Belgium who rebuilds boxes.

Sean Thanks for the answers - Sean it was out of interest really (a nagging in my head about gearing), going back to my short circuit days, we had 3 different gearboxes and 10 different diff's that we used to change week in week out various combinations long box, 3.9 diff , short box with 4.4 diff etc etc

 Re: 602 Gearbox
I have a pair of 2cv4 boxes for sale, and if Jon doesn't want it I have a late disc box that needs a new home too.

 Re: 602 Gearbox
Would they be suitable for my 425 AZ?

 Re: 602 Gearbox
Not unless you wanted one for a specific purpose, off road or hillclimbing for example. It'd be a lot of effort to fit one of them and for everyday use they'd be a pain on the road. 2cv4s are nothing like 425s mechanically.
