I have been meaning to do this for a while now and wanted to trigger that part of my brain again...
I have all the parts and will be fitting an LNA gearbox, I have a new master cylinder and reservoir as well as new rear brake cylinders for LHM...
What i am still confused about is...
What do i have to do for the handbrake mount? can i use the drummer handbrake or do i need to get a disc brake hand brake? Any pics would be great;)

OTish... Is it worth/how would one fit a brake booster to the master cylinder?

I have read Cats how to, but no mention of the handbrake mount. http://cats-citroen.net/citroen_atypes/modernisation.html#brake1

Cheers

you will need to fit a disk brake car handbrake mech. 4 bolts on the chassis your chassis may already have the mounting captive nuts - if not its easy on aftermarket chassis, not so easy on original as its the closed box section crossmember under the rear of the gearbox

dont forget to change all the pipe seals.
never found the need for servo assist on 2cv when set up well the brakes are good-make sure the rears are free and adjusted

Thnx Sean, your a ripper!

I found this pic that helps me understand. I wonder if the GS handbrake mech is the same... probably not... I shouldn't have to much trouble getting one here in Oz, if Gricey hasn't got one Viking will sort me out! ;)

Cheers for the advise on the brake servo, i'll put that one to rest.

Another similar pic here. The 'box might sit further forward when behind a standard engine, but I needed to modify the lever to clear the calliper. Looks like it's a bit close in the other pic too. It was much easier to mount after I made captive bolts, a big oval washer with two bolts welded through it, just about visible.

Harley,
have you managed to change the caliper seals on the LNA gearbox, as they'd have been suitable for synthetic brake fluid originally, not LHM? :?

It's not April 1st is it Ken?! Surely LNA gearboxes don't come with callipers, and have to use callipers from a GS/A, which are already LHM.

Joolz,
might as well be April 1st, as I've spent the last week getting the 652 Visa up to MOT standard.
Almost threw in the towel when I spotted that the fuel tank was ready to fall onto the ground.

Wonder what Citroen were playing at when they left the lugs for inboard brakes on LNA gearboxes?
Never seen one, so I can only guess that they're closer to a GS box than a Visa box...

I doubt any of us will ever work that out, in fact I doubt Citroen knew themselves. In my experience so far LNA 'boxes all have the calliper lugs, some are threaded, some aren't. Considering LNAs and Visas were built at the same time using very similar gearboxes, it's bizarre that they're not the same.

The boffins at Citroen where visionaries, they knew that one day 2cv drivers would search for more power and speed, thats why they created a link...; 652cc/602cc => Visa bellhousing => LNA gearbox => GS brakes.
It's like the blood line in the da vinci code...

Harley,
now that I've caught up with the GS brakes plan, they may well provide considerably more braking effort than a standard A series setup.
It will depend on the relative diameters of the caliper pistons and the discs used, but you should be able to work that out...
