yup been advocating that one for 20yrs now used it on Triumph frame and forks beauty is it doesn't affect any chrome, bearing surfaces or paint it only eats rust. |

Appears to work very well, I soaked all my chassis bolts and J nuts in vinegar for a week, worked well but not that well. Where do you get molasses I wonder.. don't they feed it to cattle? |

I've been using an excellent product called Fertan recently. It smells kind of sweet and, although patented, declares that it contains phosphoric acid, along with other things . My guess is that Fertan contains a lot of mollases (mollases + water = phosphoric acid). It really is good stuff. Here's another YouTube vid, (commentary in German, but you don't need to speak the lingo to understand what's going on) which shows Fertan at work. http://youtu.be/AoG39GULI7U Best of all, once Fertan has worked its magic, you can leave it for 6 months before you paint over it!! @ Peter in Scotland we know it as 'treacle' you know the stuff your Granny used to make scones with!  1 tin in a bucket, tends to start to ferment after a while , also has no additives like that German stuff so stuff goes rusty before your eyes when you wash it off. Best to rinse off the gray sludge using the hottest water possible and get primer on it as soon as it dries. none of which should present any problems if you hve etch primer and the like  @ smiffy that stuff seems to have the same stuff in rust beater which coats the cleaned metal with that black phosphate coating as the "Sugar bath" metal rusts as soon as the air gets to it. looks good though! |
