 Gear box selector ring locking

Post Gear box selector ring locking
Never seen this done before. Gear box from 1968 AK 350 or Ami 6
Not the best photo, locking is done with maybe tin, no folded locking. Tried to undo the ring but no chance. Maybe a solution on sliding pinion made from soft metal.
