Post tarting up old rubber
hi there

for ages now I've been trying to work out why my car leaks into the footwell. Finally found out why, the door rubber is not sitting tight to the door. For one thing, the door has distorted through years of being caught by the wind and the other thing is the rubber is cracked and has a shiny skin to it......had nothing to lose, so I used a very fine emery paper to take the skin off the rubber...and it's worked a treat, comes up like new!!!! I also impact adhered a strip of bike-inner-tube to the door edge and the leaks have stopped - even with 3 litres poured over the car with a watering can!!!

to summarise - old non-sealing rubber can be sanded down to work again

Bye! :)
