Post subject:  Gearbox drain plug?

I want to change the oil in the gearbox of my 2CV and according to the Haynes manual, the drain plug is at the rear of the box. The only drain plug I can find is actually near the front. It's got a magnet in it, so I think it probably is the plug I'm looking for, and as far as I can see, the diff isn't lubricated separately from the rest of the gearbox, so it's probably not the diff drain plug. However, I don't want to find out the hard way that I've got it wrong (again), so can somebody please confirm that I've found the right drain plug. Or that I've got the wrong one.

Thanks.

beerbunny,
there's only one gearbox drain plug and it's located at the lowest point of the gearbox, directly underneath the differential.
It should have a magnetic insert, although some folk seem to think that it's OK to use a filler/level plug once they've wrecked the original drain plug head with an adjustable spanner... ;)

Adjustable spanner?

So Haynes have got it wrong. :o I find that difficult to believe.

Thanks Ken. I didn't think it could be at the rear of the gearbox; there's a chassis cross-member in the way. No harm in checking, though.
